Creating secure passwords is essential nowadays with the spread of cybercrime increasing daily.

Here we will give you some 'golden rules' on Password Selection and some 'methods' that could help you achieve that.

Your password should

1)  Be 8 or more characters.

2)  Contain letters (lowercase and uppercase), numbers, punctuation and symbols.

The greater the variety of characters the better.

Avoid common letter to symbol conversions such as "and" to "&", "to" to "2".

3)  Be changed often
(if possible every 2 months).

4)  Not be used for many uses.

You should have different passwords for your email, online banking etc.

Should hackers steal the passwords from a website and you use the same password for

everything they will easily access all services that you use.

Below we will describe two methods for generating passwords

1)  Make up a sentence you can remember,
e.g.  London is the Capital City of England.

Then take the first letter of every word in the sentence, including punctuation if any.
Also a good idea would be to turn words with number into digits (e.g. "two"  to "2").

Accordingly, the example above becomes LitCCoE

2)  Choose two or more unrelated words such as: nuclear football

Join the words with a couple non-alphabetic character, e.g.  nuclear+=football

Make at least one change to one or more of the words (preferably not in the very beginning or end

of the password) e.g.nuc!ear+=KootBall

The above methods generate relatively secure password that can be easily remembered.
